Matthias Kirsch was born in 1982, close to Hamburg in Germany´s most northern state Schleswig-Holstein. He studied History in the state´s capital Kiel and moved even further to the north to the town of Schleswig, close to the danish border. Here he worked in the PR department for the state´s first big gardening exhibition and is now working as a journalist in Schleswig-Holsteins biggest newspaper company.
Matthias’ hunger for photography startet during his exchange studies in Turku/Finland in winter/spring 2006. Since then he has constantly seeked to improve his vision and craft. While shooting mostly people and events for work, in his free time he is using family trips through the Northern German and Danish landscapes to portrait his home area.
