“Tritt ein” – “enter” is a sign that can be found on most churches here. It means that they are open for everyone to enter, relax, pray, marvel.
When I entered the cathedral St. Peter in Schleswig for the first time it took my breath away. That happens all the time to me when entering huge gothic churches… they are just so incredibly high and massive.
The cathedrals in the Baltic area are especially beautiful in my eyes – simple, strong and detailed at the same time. They are built with small bricks, because natural stones are rare in this area.
